The Etruscan Necropolis of Cerveteri, known locally as Necropolis della Banditaccia, is the main burial area of the Etruscan city of Caere, and one of the most impressive necropolises of all Etruria and the Mediterranean basin. A vast burial site developed between the 7th and 3rd century BC, it features around 400 tombs varying in structure, each one with their unique features as well as frescoes depicting Etrurian daily life. In 2004, the Necropolis was included in UNESCO’s World Heritage Site list.
A 20 minutes’ drive from La Posta Vecchia, the site can also be reached by horseback, riding out from nearby Ranch La Rosa Bianca.
